Fall Essential Oil Diffuser Blends

As the seasons change and we move inward, we crave those warm, cozy fall scents. However, if you’re like me, you may be seeking healthier options, rather than synthetic scented candles. Here are some lovely fall diffuser blends for you, where you can use safe, natural essential oils to make your home smell warm and welcoming this fall!

Non-Toxic Fall Scents

One of my favourite things to do in the fall, was to go to our local Country store and pick out some DELICIOUS smelling fall candles. I LOVED the welcoming scent they gave, and the cozy glow of candle light. I always thought it made my home feel more welcoming.

What I didn’t realize, is that the fumes from both the paraffin candle wax, AND the artificial scents, were putting toxins into my home that my kids and I were breathing in.

When I first began to awaken to all the toxins that were lurking in my home, I started packing up and getting rid of anything toxic – and that included my beloved scented candles!

Essential Oils: An All Natural Replacement for Scented Candles

After a few years of living without those delicious fall scents (or simply simmering orange peels & spices on my stove, which I had to keep an eye on constantly to make sure it didn’t boil dry), I discovered the magic of essential oils.

I was SO excited when I figured out I could get those beautiful welcoming scents back – not only were they non-toxic, but they actually had HEALTH BENEFITS!

These beautiful essential oils would not only make my home smell great, but they could also support our immune system at the same time?! Count me in!

Health Benefits of Essential Oils

Interestingly, many of the scents we crave in the fall – those spicy, deliciously aromatic scents, like cinnamon, clove, cardamom, etc. – all help to support our bodies in staying well, just as we head into the fall and winter season. When I realized this, it made so much sense to me why I always craved these spicy scents in the fall!

Please note that these health benefits only pertain to the high quality essential oils such as the ones I have linked below. Essential oils purchased through other online retailers, or purchased at a local store may not have such health benefits.

In fact, according to the Aromatic Plant Research Centre, over 90% of essential oils on the market are adulterated – meaning they have synthetic additives, are diluted with carrier oils, or, in some cases, are entirely synthetic.

After extensive research on which brand of essential oils was the highest quality, most trusted, and independently tested, I only use and recommend dōTERRA essential oils.

After falling in love with dōTERRA essential oils well over a decade ago, I chose to become a dōTERRA Wellness Advocate. What this means, is I help support and guide people on their essential oil journey, and teach them how to become a healer in their own homes.

As a result, if you make a purchase through any of the links below, I will earn a small amount of commission, and you’ll receive 25% off your essential oils for a year, training from me on how to use your essential oils safely and effectively, and access to my private Facebook community, where you can ask your essential oil related questions, and get answers from myself, as well as other seasoned essential oil users.

How to Use the Diffuser Recipes

1. Use a Cold Mist Diffuser

To use these diffuser recipes, it’s ideal to have a cold mist diffuser. Cold mist diffusers are the safest and healthiest ways to diffuse essential oils.

Because they don’t involve heat, there is no risk of fire. And because essential oils are volatile (meaning they evaporate quickly), using a cold mist diffuser will make your scent last longer.

Additionally, the therapeutic properties of essential oils diminished when you apply heat to them. So if you’re looking to enjoy the health benefits of essential oils, simmering them on the stove is not recommended.

You can have a look at my recommended diffusers, or purchase a starter kit that includes a diffuser.

2. Select Your Diffuser Recipe

Choose a recipe from this page that you’d like to try. If you don’t have the essential oils for that particular recipe, all the essential oils listed have a purchase link included.

Most essential oils are sold in 15 ml bottles, which contain 250 drops of essential oils. Some oils (such as cinnamon and cardamom) are sold in 5 ml bottles, which contain 85 drops of essential oils.

As you can see, you will get many, many days of diffusing out of each bottle – it actually works out much less expensive than candles!

3. Add The Recommended Number of Drops to Your Diffuser

When using high quality essential oils, a little goes a long way! You only need 5-10 drops total, to emit a significant amount of scent.

To drop essential oils into your diffuser, simply hold them upside down at a 45 degree angle (no need to shake the bottle!). The drops will come out slowly, and you’ll be able to count them as they come out.

4. Fill Diffuser with Water

Top off your diffuser with room temperature tap water. Most diffusers do not recommend bottled or distilled water, but check your diffuser manual for instructions.

Check to ensure you haven’t filled your diffuser past the fill line.

5. Turn Diffuser On

Turn on your diffuser, and enjoy the amazing fall scents that fill your home, secure in the knowledge that what you’re using to scent your home is safe and healthy!

Most diffusers will have different settings for different lengths of time. I usually choose the ‘intermittent’ setting, which is where it will turn on and off periodically throughout the day. This helps to stretch your essential oils further.

Safety Precautions for Essential Oils

Also, always keep these essential oils out of reach of children and pets. They are all natural, and smell DELICIOUS, but they are POTENT. Children may be attracted to the delicious scent and want to investigate.

With that said, let’s get on to the amazing fall diffuser blends, shall we?

Where to Order Essential Oils

If you want truly high quality essential oils, with no synthetic additives, you’ll want to make sure you’re getting a good brand. I, personally, would never buy my essential oils from a health food store or a drug store etc.

These essential oils not only keep our home smelling great, but also play a role in our family’s health care. Therefore I want to make sure I’m getting the best.

A great way to begin is with one of our essential oil starter kits. Alternatively, you can pick and choose from the individual oils listed in each diffuser blend, or simply go with Harvest Spice – a pre-made blend containing Cassia, Clove Bud, Nutmeg, Cinnamon Bark, Cedarwood, and Eucalyptus essential oils.
