A Day of Candlemaking

Sharing is caring!

We were recently blessed to have a friend invite us to her farm, to show us how to make beeswax candles. It was a really wonderful day, and something I had been wanting to learn how to do for quite some time. I know you can learn just about anything from the internet, but some things are learned best when someone actually shows you.

She showed us how she melts the wax in an old crock pot, how to set up the wicks and molds…

She used an old teapot to pour the hot wax, which I thought was brilliant.

While we waited for the candles to set, we headed out to the barn to visit some animals.

And in the end, we went home with a beautiful collection of beeswax candles.

It was a truly magical day – the best kind of homeschooling! While we don’t live in the country, it doesn’t mean we can’t have country experiences. There are many, many opportunities to experience the country life if you seek them out – I like to view our entire community as our classroom.

  1. Your candles look lovely. We are able to acquire beeswax from a neighborhood beekeeper and nothing beats the smell of homemade candles.
Hope your day is a lovely one – I look forward to more posts.
